Proposed Amendment

Welsh Pony & Cob Society of Canada

Proposed Constitutional Amendment – 2015

PROPOSED AMENDMENT – Carried

Be it resolved that:

Article 2 Objects and Purposes, Section 3

Which reads:

Section 3 To promote, encourage and assist the livestock exhibitions and fairs, and offer, grant and contribute prizes in cash or otherwise for such purposes which shall be limited to registered Welsh Pony or Cob competitions.

Be rescinded and replaced with:

Section 3 To promote, encourage and assist the livestock exhibitions and fairs, and offer, grant and contribute prizes in cash or otherwise for such purposes which shall NOT be limited to registered Welsh Pony or Cob competitions. These prizes may be awarded to any registered Welsh Pony or Cob that wins first place in any open competition.”

Rationale: One of the most important advantages of the Welsh breed is its versatility. Welsh ponies are winning in dressage, jumping, western pleasure, CDE’s, pleasure driving and many other competitions. As shows with purebred classes are becoming rare or non-existent in some provinces, it is only fair to reward the Welsh who are out there competing and winning against all comers. This change will permit the Society to reward these outstanding Welsh.
